The University of Thessaly Department of Physiotherapy marked 30 years with an International Physiotherapy Conference in Lamia on 8–10 May 2026, under the theme "The future of Physiotherapy: Science and Innovation with the Human at the centre." CeprLab, as the department's clinical-exercise research laboratory, took an active part.

CeprLab's role in the programme

Each of the lab's three senior faculty coordinated a scientific round table:

  • Prof. Eleni Kapreli coordinated the session on understanding pain — from neuroscience to clinical management, and co-coordinated a session on athletic physiotherapy and performance.
  • Assoc. Prof. Garyfallia Pepera coordinated exercise as therapy — mechanisms, dosage and clinical application.
  • Prof. Eleni Kortianou coordinated innovations in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy and intensive care.

Why it matters — and for whom

For students and early-career clinicians, an anniversary conference gathers the field's current thinking in one place. For the lab, coordinating three of the scientific round tables reflects the three research lines CeprLab is built on — pain science, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation — and the department's three decades of teaching and research in central Greece.
